The Baldwin County Regional Juvenile Detention Center located in Bay Minette, Alabama implemented a new RiteTrack Juvenile Facility Module and is live beginning August 1, 2021. Since 1992, the JDC has served multiple counties in the state of Alabama including Baldwin, Escambia, Conecuh, Clark, Choctaw and Washington Counties.
The Alabama-based JDC needed a Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) to manage admissions, placement, records, assessments, incidents, cases, discharges, federal programs, legal compliance, contract monitoring, reporting, schedules, and discharges.
Handel also was able to create critical custom functionality for the center. Through close collaboration, RiteTrack manages the JDC’s rule violations and manages the fire drill documentation. With this unique customization, the rule violation functionality manages and tracks youth charges both outside-the-facility charges (e.g., court charges) as well as internal violations of conduct.
RiteTrack has also eliminated the cumbersome paperwork that accompanied the JDC’s required fire drills. Now instead of using paper-records to track the regularly scheduled drills and client checks required by the state, they log it digitally and can print a report to submit whenever the State requests this information.
After a thorough examination of available systems and evaluation of multiple bids, Baldwin County selected RiteTrack as the optimal data management solution.
The Baldwin County JDC provides a “safe place for the young men and women in Lower Alabama who are accused or adjudicated pending court action or awaiting placement into another facility.”
Handel specializes in creating the best possible software solutions for juvenile justice agencies. RiteTrack is software for state, county and tribal governments. RiteTrack serves juvenile programs across the nation and focuses on diversion, probation, and detention programs. With the experience and accountability that Handel offers, RiteTrack is the trusted information solution that juvenile programs rely on.
Handel is enthusiastic for the opportunity to partner with Baldwin County and provide them with a reliable, performance-based data management system that will track their youth from intake to discharge and beyond. The system also produces the required reports for the JDC to provide to county-level entities with the data needed to make informed decisions about trends and approaches to juvenile care.
