On April 30, the Bureau of Indian Affairs announced it had begun disbursing the $900 million dollars made available through the American Rescue Plan Act to federally recognized Tribes.
Today at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time is the deadline for Tribes to submit enrollment numbers for the general ARP funding streams.
These monies will help address many of the challenges Tribes face that were exacerbated by the pandemic and include funding for tribal payments and direct services (government, social services, public safety and justice, Indian Child Welfare, and others), housing improvement, law enforcement and detention, P.L. 280, administrative and oversight costs, and potable water delivery. ($12.5 million will be held centrally to allocate for unexpected exigencies.)
Another deadline of June 7 at 11:59 p.m. PT is approaching and is based on tribal employment numbers. Since this information hasn’t been gathered by the Department of Treasury before, Tribes can expect some type of contact from the Department this week to confirm employment data and alleviate any concerns.
The appropriations do not have an expenditure date and are available until used. The funding can be used for a wide range of services but is paired with data collection and reporting requirements. Some streams require separate accounts to track expenditures.
If your Tribe could use a data system to better manage your grant expenditures and produce better reporting for its social service programs, contact us about RiteTrack today.
RiteTrack features standard modules for tribal social services including Enrollment, Financial Assistance, Indian Child Welfare, Protective Services, TANF, Domestic Violence Victim Advocacy, Treatment Services, Employment & Training, and Tribal Courts.
These individual modules can be implemented as a standalone solution for one department or in multiple tribal departments creating a truly integrated data system.
