/in Handel News /by Tracey RosenlundAt Handel we have been following national recommendations by staying home and working from home. As you know, this tends to leave us craving social interaction. We gather electronically as a company about once a week to participate in some fun activities together while remaining separate.
To help support local businesses and do something different, we opted to hold a socially distant paint party.
Here are the fruits of our (physically distanced) labor!
We hope you are staying safe and well during these times where we have to physically distance, but we also hope you are able to engage socially (while still separate) with friends and family.
Take care and be well.

MJDA Administrator’s 2019 Conference Social Hour with Handel
/in Handel News, Juvenile Detention, Juvenile Justice /by Tracey RosenlundThe Michigan Juvenile Detention Association’s (MJDA) 2019 Administrator’s Conference recently wrapped up on January 25 and was held at the Park Place Hotel in Traverse City.
The sessions for MJDA administrators focused on how trauma affects both youth and assisting staff during therapeutic interventions. Tactics were shared to help guide with staff assisting youth who have experienced trauma. These sessions also examined how the trauma often affects a youth’s behaviors and responses in a detention setting.
Other workshops immersed attendees in a science-based professional development workshop. These mini-immersion workshops offered methods to integrate staff wellness into the day-to-day management routine.
On Thursday, January 24, Handel was excited to host our annual networking event at the conference. This year we were at the stunning Top-Of-The-Park and enjoyed our time sipping, snacking, and socializing with the MJDA Administrator’s Conference attendees. Despite the snow, we were glad to so many people were able to make it to the sessions and during our networking event.
We look forward to seeing everyone next year!
