Today’s organizations have more data available to them than ever before. Yet, few organizations truly understand how to harness this data and turn it into information and knowledge. Data analytics can be used to create meaningful information out of the wealth of data available. Explore data analytics and how to apply this information through the process of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to create a better picture of programs and improve tribal social services provided to members with us.
During this recording you will learn how analytics translates program data into tangible information. We will examine the distinctions between data, information, and knowledge while incorporating the parts of and processes needed for CQI. You’ll see how this information that came directly from your data can be used to make better decisions, inform policy-making, and, ultimately, provide better services to members.
There are three types of information we will cover: descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive. Descriptive information tells us what happened or is happening with demographics and from community situations. Predictive information tells us what will happen next. Prescriptive information informs us of what we can do to improve situations and outcomes for members.
We’ll examine different types of data models and how they can be used for analysis as well as how to make practical use of this information. The process of analytics involves data becoming descriptive information, then predictive intelligence, which leads to prescriptive knowledge that can be used to inform decisions and changes to improve services and outcomes.
Finally, the philosophy of CQI can be used to both ensure that data is accurately and consistently collected and that it is used as a method to analyze and react to the data. Collecting and analyzing data are critical throughout each step in the process. We will look at applying CQI within an agency to better understand and improve the services provided to members.
