Improving Outcomes with Tribal Court Software
By Tiffany Edmonds
Kolby Fenster, Director of Customer Relations from Handel Information Technologies and Judge Patricia Lenzi, Chief Judge of Cedarville and Winnemucca Tribal Courts, recently provided a webinar hosted by TribalHub discussing how RiteTrack tribal court software improved the data management, processes, and reporting for those courts. During the webinar, the speakers relate their experiences during the implementation, lessons learned, and benefits realized.
The Washoe Tribe, Winnemucca Indian Colony, and Cedarville Rancheria recently implemented the RiteTrack Tribal Court Software information solution. Some had no system at all, while others had cumbersome and only partially used systems in place. What steps did these tribes take when navigating the change?
The first step in implementing new software is making the decision to do so and considering what the Tribe wanted to accomplish by integrating an updated system. Judge Lenzi discusses the goals and deliberations that led to the decision to implement an enterprise-level system for the Court and identifies considerations that may be important to other courts. Planning the implementation for a robust database system involved several aspects including identifying system goals, outlining module customization, and staff embracing the change.
Kolby describes the system rollouts including collaborative application development, system design, development, testing, and go live phases. Lastly, they discuss how the new case management software system achieved the Judge’s goals for grant reporting and other benefits they experienced.
