The American Rescue Plan Act contained a provision to provide $75 million for short-term benefits to Tribal Governments operating a Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program through the Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund.
A notice of intent from Tribes operating TANF programs is due to the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) no later than June 9, 2021.
The funds can be used for a range of benefits distributed directly to members who are affected by the pandemic in various ways. Learn more here.
ACF requested the notice of intent form be certified by the chief executive officer of the Tribe or consortium.
The emergency funds, once received, must be spent by September 30, 2022. You can find a list of all Tribes that have set asides here (page 7).
