Tribal offices often use technology to track and manage member data and services. This same technology can evolve to interact with members.
Some Tribes are using innovative technology solutions to communicate relevant information to members about available services, service application statuses, and current case standings.
Recently creative Tribes have influenced how implemented software can be extended to communicate and engage members and clients.
If technology can be an essential tool for tribal employees, it also can include the ability for members to access and review the statuses and outcomes of their cases.
Using software to manage member services brings many benefits to Tribal staff and enables their work to be more effective and efficient. It also minimizes physical files and paperwork, and makes it possible to eliminate paper almost entirely. For example, instead of scanning in a hardcopy of an application for membership or services, the member could fill out the application online. Additionally, rather than mailing members notices when their reimbursement claims are approved, emails could notify them immediately.
As we reveal the benefits that result from better member and client engagement, we also reveal some challenges that change often brings. We will discuss how Tribes addressed and overcame these common challenges. For example, security can be a concern, but there are ways to ensure that certain information is accessible only to certain users.
