MJDA Administrator’s 2019 Conference Social Hour with Handel
The Michigan Juvenile Detention Association’s (MJDA) 2019 Administrator’s Conference recently wrapped up on January 25 and was held at the Park Place Hotel in Traverse City.
The sessions for MJDA administrators focused on how trauma affects both youth and assisting staff during therapeutic interventions. Tactics were shared to help guide with staff assisting youth who have experienced trauma. These sessions also examined how the trauma often affects a youth’s behaviors and responses in a detention setting.
Other workshops immersed attendees in a science-based professional development workshop. These mini-immersion workshops offered methods to integrate staff wellness into the day-to-day management routine.
On Thursday, January 24, Handel was excited to host our annual networking event at the conference. This year we were at the stunning Top-Of-The-Park and enjoyed our time sipping, snacking, and socializing with the MJDA Administrator’s Conference attendees. Despite the snow, we were glad to so many people were able to make it to the sessions and during our networking event.
We look forward to seeing everyone next year!
